Canvas - How do I add a video to a discussion reply?

When responding to a discussion in Canvas, you can create a video, link videos from external tools, add an URL link, embed the video correct into your reply, or upload a media file to an assignment. These instructions can also be used for adding a video to pages or any other place with the Rich Content Editor.

Discussion Reply

To begin your reply, select the give-and-takeand click the reply box.

This will open the Rich Content Editor in the respond box.

Create and submit a video in the discussion

1. Employ the Media icon in the Rich Content Editor
   1. Select the Insert> Mediapush button or Grand edia icon.
   2. Select Upload/Tape Media.
   3. Select the Tape tab.
   4. Yous will be able to select the Mic and Webcam you want to use.
   5. Start Recording.
   6. When you are done recording select Finishand Salvage. This will add to your reply window.
   7. You can add together boosted text or content and when you are set up, Mail reply.

      

      Tips & Tricks

      • To use the RCE webcam recorder you lot must utilise Chrome or Firefox, Safari does not work.

      • These videos count towards your user files or the grade files.

      • Do not employ this feature to create videos longer than twenty minutes, in case you lot lose video content while trying to salvage.

2. Utilise Kaltura (My Media) webcam recorder
   
   1. Select the Tools > Apps or Plugin icon.
   2. Select My Media.
   3. In the top correct corner, select + Add New.
   4. Select Webcam Recorder.
   5. Click the red record button to kickoff your recording.
   6. When you are washed, select the square stop push.
   7. You lot tin can then click Use This or Tape Once again.
   8. After you lot select utilize this, the video will process and you can add a title and description.
   9. In the peak right, click Save and Embed.
   10. You can add together additional text or content and when yous are ready, Post reply.

Link a previously recorded video

1. Add together URL video link using the Rich Content Editor
   
   1. Select the Insert > Link button or Link icon.
   2. Paste the URL in the text box
   3. Click the done push button.

      

2. Link videos from the resources available in Sheet (resources include: YouTube, Vimeo, TEDEd, MyMedia (your content), and Films on Demand).
   
   1. Select the Tools > Apps or Plugin icon.
   2. After you select the resource y'all want to add together the video from, you lot will enter your search criteria.
   3. When you detect a video y'all would like to utilize, click on the Embed push button side by side to it.
   4. You can add additional text or content and when y'all are ready, Post answer.
